Rotarians and a Robot Rehab a Beach. London area Rotarians took part in an event in Port Burwell sorting debris collected by a Robot Beach Cleaning machine dubbed BeachBot or BeBot. According to a report by Sean Irvine for CTV News, it is part of Pollution Probe's effort to collect data for a report on the impact of debris and microplastics on the Great Lakes shorelines in both Canada and The U,S.A. After a 35-year aerospace career working on the original Canadarm, Canadarm2, the Mobile Base System and Dextre, Glenn capped his talk with a musical nod to space: an adapted rendition of "Space Oddity" (Chris Hadfield).
At the Rotary Club of London meeting on Aug 10, 2026, Dr. Oleksa Drachewych, assistant professor of history at Western University and lecturer at King’s University College. Dr. Drachewych discussed his 2026 book "Replaying the Second World War: Soviet Parallels and Inspirations for Russian Atrocities in the Russo‑Ukrainian War" highlighting how WWII memory informs contemporary Russian actions and the historical parallels behind atrocities in Ukraine.
