Exciting Update on Our Community Bakery Project! At the March 23, 2026, meeting of the Rotary Club of London, World Service Committee Chair Keith Morrow updated members on the significant progress we’ve made on our community bakery project, which has overcome numerous challenges since its inception prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We are thrilled to share that the roof has been successfully installed! This marks a crucial step toward securing the building envelope and allows for further work to be completed.
So far, we have invested CAD 27,000 into the project, with Rotary International and local R/C members contributing USD40,000. Upon completion, this site will serve as a teaching bakery operated as a non-profit enterprise dedicated to training community members in artisan bread making, marketing, and management. Our mission is to preserve and promote the rich culture of the Zapotec indigenous population through this initiative. You can be part of making things like this happen.
