January 2026, Local Service Chair Don Stevens visited Lord Elgin Public School to present a Rotary Club of London $500.00 cheque to Grade 5/6 teacher Chris Vangalen, helping ensure his class could fully participate in their Museum School London week.

Museum School London offers students an unforgettable, curriculum-based week of learning by moving the classroom into London’s network of museums. Throughout the week, students explore real artifacts, take part in hands-on activities, and experience history, science, the arts, and Indigenous perspectives through visits to several local museums.
For many students at Lord Elgin this was their first opportunity to visit museums or engage in enriched learning beyond the classroom. With transportation costs reaching $1,000, the class was still $500 short despite student contributions and school fundraising.. Rotary stepped in so every child could attend every day of Museum Week.
Enrichment opportunities like this support Rotary’s global Area of Focus: Education & Literacy, helping ensure all students have access to meaningful, inspiring learning experiences. And although the Rotary Club of London meets only twice a month, our good works continue 24/7—wherever they are needed.
