Rotary News Today
--OCTOBER IS ECONOMIC & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MONTH--
Check out this story how an 89 year old Rotarian raised funds for Polio.
How one 89-year-old pilot flew a single-engine plane from Portugal to Newfoundland. A group organizing a five-week, transatlantic fundraiser for polio suppression believes one of their pilots has set a new world record in the process.  Read in CTV Newshttps://apple.news/AHPXLPIQVTROeAPDIy4m-8A

--SOCK DRIVE IN SUPPORT OF 519 PURSUIT--
The Rotary Club of London wholeheartedly supports the work of local not for profit organization 519 Pursuit.  October 1-November 15 is more than a white sock collection drive, although we are happy with "new white socks," which are the most desired piece of clothing by those living unhoused. Other wanted items include used:  tents, sleeping bags, long underwear, ponchos, gloves, hats, warm jackets, sweat suits, protein bars, personal hygiene products, tarps and bottled water. How will this work?  There are many ways to help. 1.  Make a personal donation.  Bring it to a meeting or we can pick it up. 2.  Be a neighborhood captain.  Knock on the doors of neighbors you know and ask for a donation.  I would give them a few days to buy a product or find a used item to donate.  Again, we can pick up the items at your home or you can drop it off at one of our homes or offices. 3.  Reach out on social media or email lists to business colleagues, clients and friends and ask for a donation.  We have six weeks to collect items and get them delivered to the warehouse.
Sincerely Stephen Knox 519-630-9365   Ken Forbes 519-854-7054.
